Pelican cases are renowned for their robustness and exceptional durability. They are designed to withstand shocks, resist dust, and remain watertight, safeguarding valuable equipment even in harsh conditions. However, the composition of Pelican cases varies depending on the specific series, as there are five different case series; each crafted from distinct, durable, plastic-like materials and comes with inserted pelican case foam. In this article, we will delve into the precise material specifications for each Pelican series and highlight their advantageous characteristics. Let's dive in. • The Protector Case Series: Pelican's Protector Case series is constructed from exclusive polypropylene formula. Within this case material, there exists a somewhat hollow interior that incorporates a honeycomb structure during the manufacturing process. This honeycomb open-cell structure confers numerous advantages to the case, enhancing its protective capabilities for the contents inside. The honeycomb structure of pelican case foam provides heightened strength and rigidity, endowing the Protector Case series with the ability to withstand various challenges. Furthermore, the open cells assist in heat dispersion and help maintain a consistently safe interior temperature. Additionally, the Protector series features user-friendly double throw latches, equipped with over-molded rubber handles and stainless steel hardware. • The Storm Case Series: The Pelican Storm Case series also features proprietary polypropylene formula called the HPX. It is the same material that is used in the Protector Case series. It offers the same solid wall design with an open honeycomb cell core, which make it lightweight. One major difference between the Storm Case series and the Protector series is Pull latches and press, which lock automatically and open easily with a light touch. • The Air Case Series: The Pelican cases in the Air Case series earned their name for a reason. Instead of using the HPX polypropylene formula found in the Protector and Storm Case series, the Air Case series employs Pelican's next-generation resin known as HPX2. This lighter proprietary polypropylene formula, up to 40 percent lighter than typical hard carrying cases, makes them ideal for air travel. Despite their lightweight design, Pelican Air Cases maintain the honeycomb structure found in the Protector series, offering enhanced durability compared to standard solid polymer materials. They are also IP67 rated, allowing them to be submerged for 20 minutes in one meter of water. • The Vault Case Series: The Pelican Vault Case series is distinctively manufactured to safeguard firearms, bows, ammunition, guns, and other delicate equipment. To provide the necessary durability and shock resistance, the Vault series is built using an HDPE formula comprising crushproof, high-impact polymers. It's crucial to distinguish HDPE from LDPE, as the latter is a lower-density plastic and far less robust. Additionally, the Vault series comes equipped with stainless steel hasps and pelican case foam for added security. • Elite Coolers and Cargo Cases: In addition to primary materials - HPX, HPX2, and HDPE construction - there's another Pelican case material worth mentioning due to its unique design. Pelican Elite Coolers and vehicle-mountable Cargo Case series are crafted using the same polypropylene formula and have inserted pelican case foam that undergo a different roto-molded process for enhanced durability.
